Ground Nuts
Groundnuts, also commonly known as peanuts, are edible seeds of the legume plant Arachis hypogaea. Unlike true nuts that grow on trees, groundnuts grow underground—hence the name. They’re hugely popular around the world as a snack, cooking ingredient, and source of oil.
Appearance:
Encased in a papery, tan shell with usually two (sometimes three) seeds inside.
The seeds have a thin, reddish-brown skin and a pale inner core.
🍽️ Uses:
Eaten raw, roasted, or boiled
Pressed for peanut oil
Used to make peanut butter
Found in dishes like groundnut stew, especially in West African cuisine
